Audra McLaughlin is a 25 year old Country Soul Singer/Songwriter who gained international recognition on Season 6 of NBC’s hit show “The Voice”. She was a member of Country Superstar, Blake Shelton’s Team and her combination of powerhouse vocals, stunning looks and sweet demeanor took her all the way through to the finals.
Audra started singing at the ripe, old age of 8 years old. Her parents, family and friends noticed that she was always singing around the house, so they decided to sign her up for voice lessons at a local studio in her hometown of Glenolden, PA. Her vocal teacher was so impressed with her voice that she asked her to start participating in some recitals at the local church, where she sang songs from some of her influences like LeAnn Womack, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Martina McBride, LeAnn Rimes and Shania Twain, to name a few.
After awhile she started winning local competitions and joined the school chorus and choir where she was chosen as a soloist. Audra says, “I was very nervous to perform in front of fellow students; I didn’t want them laughing at me because I forgot the words or messed up or something, lol.” But that never happened. As a matter of fact, she ended up winning an award at her 8th grade graduation and was named “Best Singer” in her class!
At the age of 16, Audra started working hard on her performance skills and, wanting to build up her vocal strength she decided to join a local rock band and started on the club circuit playing cover tunes. That’s when the songwriting bug bit her and she started working on her original music. After a while, she started a Country band with which to perform those new originals, much to the delight of her ever-growing fanbase.
Then in 2014 came a call from the hit TV show “The Voice” who’d heard about her through her vocal coach and the rest, as they say is history. Audra went to Hollywood and got a 4 chair turn from the celebrity coaches and made it all the way to becoming a finalist for Blake Shelton’s team! Some are still amazed that she didn’t win the whole thing!
Since her “Voice” success, and racking up that huge TV fan base Audra’s been working in Nashville with Grammy-Nom writer/producer Jim Femino (Toby Keith, James Otto, Ronnie Milsap, Jamie O’Neal etc…) writing and recording new songs, and releasing new music to radio as well as touring the US. And she’s shared some pretty big stages with Country superstars Dierks Bentley, Tim McGraw, Chase Rice, Frankie Ballard, Eric Paslay, Neil McCoy and more.
In addition, she’s been performing at Country festivals, corporate events and been out on radio tour in support of her new single “BOOMERANG”, as well as finding time to sing the national anthem at NFL, NBA, and MLB events while she continues to build her career.
But when Audra’s not busy singing for her fans, she’s busy helping people! She has tirelessly done events for The American Diabetes Society, Juvenile Diabetes Society and is a brand ambassador for Free 2 Luv, the nonprofit, anti-bullying organization to help kids get through their tough struggles and encounters. She also has a huge heart for veterans and does many events in their honor. Or, as she says, “The veteran events are near and dear to me because my Grandpop served during World War 2. I really respect all veterans and active duty service men and women because they put their lives on the line for us every day to keep our country safe and ensure our freedom. Singing for them is the least I can do!”
Audra McLaughlin is a true Country ambassador to the world, embodying everything that is good about our people, lifestyle and core values. Thanks for taking the time to learn about her.
